Biography
Jocelyn Whipple grew up between Cailfornia and Devon attending the then young Rudolf Steiner
schools where her father taught. This lead on to a degree in product design (metal and textiles)
at Liverpool Hope University. During this time Jocelyn began to focus on the concepts of
sustainable materials for design, in particular for textiles, writing a dissertation on the
subject and committing to the exclusive use of environmentally sound materials by graduation in 1999.
In January 2000 Jocelyn moved back to California to pursue a career in this emerging field and connected there with the handful of the new Eco Fashion brands, fabric wholesalers and media events, spearheading the movement. Between 2000 and 2005 she worked in many roles, such as bespoke design, event production and garment manufacturing, to promote, explore and expand the industry being developed specifically around eco / ethical fashion. After almost six years in San Francisco and Los Angeles and having seen the growth and increasing demand globally she moved back to the UK in 2005.
Over the last Three years Jocelyn has joined the UK ‘Ethical Fashion’ scene bringing new products and brands to the wholesale market. Launching Loop Fabric to wholesale textiles for fashion and furnishings as well as Element23 a fashion agency representing some of the leading ethical/eco brands now available. With over ten years experience, and specialist knowledge of the complex and continually developing definitions of “eco’ and ‘ethical’ textiles and fashion Jocelyn is positioned to progress the expansion and availability of more conscious consumer and manufacturing choices in this arena through out the world.
